Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Remind Notifications (“Remind Notifications,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when:
- A Shopify merchant (“Merchant,” “Client”) installs and uses the Remind Notifications app (the “App”), and
- The Merchant’s customers or visitors (“Visitors,” “Customers”) interact with the “Notify me” / back-in-stock functionality on the Merchant’s Shopify store (the “Store”).
We operate one standalone Shopify app and are not a Shopify accelerator or part of an app portfolio.
By installing the App, configuring it on your Store, or using any part of our services (collectively, the “Service”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Privacy Policy.
Important: We have no direct relationship with your Store Customers/Visitors. As a Merchant, you are responsible for informing your Customers about how their data is processed (including by this App) and for obtaining all necessary consents.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please uninstall the App and stop using the Service.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
We collect and process information about Merchants and, on their behalf, about Visitors who request back-in-stock notifications.
2.1 Information You Provide to Us (Merchants)
When you install or use the App, you may provide us with:
- Merchant / Store Owner Information
- Name
- Email address
- Company/store name
- Contact details you choose to share
- Support & Communication Data
- Messages you send us by email or through support channels
- Any screenshots, logs, or other information you voluntarily provide
- App Configuration Content
- Text and settings you create inside the App (e.g., notification messages, button text, display settings, rules for sending notifications)
We use this information to set up your account, configure the App, provide support, and operate the Service.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically from Your Store (via Shopify)
When you install the App in your Shopify Store, we gain access to certain Store data via Shopify’s APIs. Depending on the scopes granted, this may include:
- Store Information
- Store name and URL/domain
- Store contact email
- Currency, default language, and general Store settings
- Product & Inventory Information
- Product titles, descriptions, variants, and collections
- Images and other product details
- Inventory status and changes (e.g., when an item goes out of stock or back in stock)
- Order & Customer Context (if required for the feature)
- Limited order or customer data necessary to ensure that notifications are sent correctly and not duplicated (for example, to avoid notifying someone about an item they just purchased).
We only access the data that is needed for the App to function (e.g., detecting when a product is out of stock and then back in stock to trigger notifications).
2.3 Information About Your Visitors / Customers
When a Visitor clicks the “Notify me” or similar button on your Store, the App may collect:
- Contact Details to Send Notifications
- Email address (and/or other contact method, if supported and configured, such as phone number for SMS)
- Notification Context
- Product and variant the Visitor wants to be notified about
- Time and date when the notification request was submitted
- Store and language context
This Visitor data is collected on your behalf to deliver back-in-stock notifications when the relevant product becomes available again.
2.4 Messaging & SMS Privacy of end customer information
We collect phone numbers when a user (your customer) voluntarily provides it to receive notifications such as back-in-stock alerts, order updates, and other related communications.
We use this information solely to deliver the services that have been requested.
Important disclosure:
We do not share, sell and/or trade our customers/user's phone numbers or emails.
Additionally:
- Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
- All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
- Message frequency may vary.
- Message and data rates may apply.
2.5 Device, Usage, and Technical Data
To operate and improve the Service, we may also collect:
- Device & Technical Information
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device type
- Time zone and language settings
- Usage Information
- How often Merchants access the App
- Which sections of the App are used
- Basic performance and error logs
2.6 Cookies and Similar Technologies
If we provide a web dashboard or settings page, we may use cookies or similar technologies in your browser to:
- Maintain your logged-in session
- Improve usability and security
- Analyze usage of the App interface
You can control cookies through your browser settings. However, disabling certain cookies may affect App functionality.
3. How We Use the Information

We may use aggregated, de-identified data (that does not identify any individual) for analytics, statistics, and product improvement.

4. How We Share Information
We do not share, sell and/or trade our customers/user's personal information like phone numbers and emails.
We share data only as needed to run the Service, comply with the law, or protect our rights.
4.1 With Service Providers
We may share necessary data with trusted third-party providers who help us:
- Host and operate servers/infrastructure
- Monitor and log performance or errors
- Provide customer support tools
These providers are allowed to use personal data only to perform services for us and must protect it appropriately.
4.2 With Shopify and Other Integrated Services
Because the App runs within the Shopify ecosystem:
- We exchange data with Shopify as required by their platform and API design.
- If you connect the App to other tools (e.g., helpdesk, marketing platforms), data may be shared according to your configuration and the privacy policies of those third parties.
4.3 For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes (e.g., court orders)
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Remind Notifications, our users, or others
- Investigate and respond to alleged violations of our terms or legal claims
4.4 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction:
- Relevant data may be transferred to the new owner or entity,
- Who will be bound to use that data consistent with this Privacy Policy (or provide equivalent protection).
You will be informed of any material changes to how your data is handled in connection with such a transaction, where required by law.
4.5 Aggregated / Non-Personal Information
We may publish or share aggregated, anonymized statistics (for example, general trends on notification usage or stock events) that do not identify any individual Merchant or Visitor. These may be used for analytics, product improvement, or business insights.
5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
5.1 Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against:
- Accidental or unlawful destruction
- Loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk, and we encourage you to keep your Shopify and email credentials secure.
5.2 Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy
- Comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations
- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
In general:
- Visitor notification data is kept while it is needed to deliver notifications and for a reasonable period afterward (for logs, reporting, or error handling), unless earlier deletion is requested or required.
- Merchant account and configuration data is retained while the App remains installed and for a limited time after uninstallation, unless you request earlier deletion (subject to legal obligations).
When data is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it in a secure manner, where technically feasible.
6. Roles: Data Controller and Data Processor
6.1 Merchants as Controllers of Visitor Data
For Visitor/Customer data collected via the “Notify me / back-in-stock” functionality (e.g., email addresses and product interest):
- The Merchant is typically the data controller.
- Remind Notifications acts as a data processor, processing that data solely on the Merchant’s instructions and for the purpose of operating the App.
As a Merchant, you are responsible for:
- Providing clear notices to your Customers about the use of this App and data processing,
- Obtaining all necessary consents (e.g., for marketing or email communication, where required), and
- Ensuring your use of the App complies with applicable laws (such as GDPR, ePrivacy, CAN-SPAM, etc., as relevant).
6.2 Remind Notifications as Controller of Merchant Data
For data about Merchants and their use of the App (e.g., contact details, configuration, usage logs):
- Remind Notifications typically acts as the data controller, determining how and why that data is processed to provide and improve the Service.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights over your personal data, such as:
- Access – Request information about what we hold about you.
- Rectification – Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion – Request deletion of certain personal data, subject to our legal obligations.
- Restriction or Objection – Restrict or object to certain processing, where applicable.
- Data Portability – Request a copy of your personal data in a common format, where feasible.
- Withdrawal of Consent – If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (this will not affect prior lawful processing).
If you are a Merchant, you can exercise these rights by contacting us at [email protected].
If you are a Customer/Visitor of a Merchant’s Store, please contact the relevant Merchant directly, as they are usually the controller of your data. We will assist the Merchant, if needed, in responding to valid requests.
Managing Communications
If we send you marketing or promotional emails, you can:
- Click the “unsubscribe” link in any such email, or
- Email us at [email protected] to opt out.
We may still send you non-marketing, service-related communications.
8. GDPR and Other Data Protection Laws (Where Applicable)
Where laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar frameworks apply, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (e.g., providing the App you installed)
- Our legitimate interests (e.g., securing and improving the Service)
- Your consent (e.g., certain communications, if required by law)
- Compliance with legal obligations
If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concerns.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service and App are not directed to children and are intended for use by adult Shopify Merchants and their Stores.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age required by applicable law (for example, 13 or 16, depending on jurisdiction). If we become aware that personal data has been collected directly from a child without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Changes in our App, features, or business operations
- Changes in applicable laws or regulatory requirements
When we make changes:
- We will update the “Last Updated / Effective Date” at the top of this document.
- In case of significant changes, we may provide additional notice (for example, inside the App or via email), where required by law.
Your continued use of the App after an updated version is posted means you accept the revised Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should uninstall the App and stop using the Service.
11. Contact Information
If you have any questions, requests, or complaints regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you can contact us at:
- Email: [email protected]
We will do our best to respond promptly and address your concerns.
